    1. The dark cactus one is Rip City - my first year of growing it and it IS fabulous! I love the bright pink of the tiny 'Roxy' with its bright yellow stamens which gives a cheery poke of colour at the front of the border. The blushing pastel decorative dahlia at the top is 'Peaches'. A trifle complicated, but a great foil to the dark drama queen.

    1. They remind me of the summer pudding that I've made for tea tonight!

  3. OMG I have serious dahlia envy! They look fabulous. Mine are covered in blackfly at the moment and still very small as planted out very late :(

    1. Yeah but you can't see the slug chewed leaves, even in this dry spell!! Mine were fairly late being planted out, but started off early-ish (March). Everything is about a month behind normal this year. As for blackly.... squish 'em with your fingers. Don gloves if squeamish, and shut your eyes. My jeans have been known to be so covered in greenfly goo that I have had to change them before collecting kids from school - and I am not a person who is particularly precious about standards of dress and cleanliness...

  4. Your dahlias look stunning, but I do like the set up in the rose photo too, although they look bit sad, they still look beautiful.

    1. I've got a soft spot for faded roses too. But the best thing is, now the deadheading is done, I'm getting the second batch of flowers coming through. More scent for me, yippee!!
